What are Firetrace Systems?

With ever-changing and continuous advancements in technology, there is no reason you shouldn’t have fire protection unique to your needs. Firetrace systems are a type of fire protection used to extinguish fires. Firetrace systems are designed to detect and suppress fires in early stages through automatic responses. There are a variety of suppressants that are compatible with firetrace systems such as clean agents, CO2, foam, and other agents.

How Do Firetrace Systems Work?

The firetrace systems are designed to be an automatic fire extinguishing solution. This fire protection system is designed to detect and protect against fires without electrical power. The systems work through tubing that can be installed in your building or desired protected area. The tubing is sensitive to heat and will rupture when exposed to high temperatures that are produced by the fire. When the tubing bursts it releases the fire suppressant agent into the area to put out the source of the fire. The firetrace systems work to react in the detected areas instead of triggering unnecessary dispersion of suppression agents into unaffected areas. There are varying types of firetrace systems depending on what kind of risk and contents your building contains.

Types of Firetrace Systems

There are many varying types of Firetrace systems unique to different applications. Two of the most common types are direct and indirect firetrace systems.

  • Direct Release System- This is a more common type of firetrace system and often runs in confined areas. The detection tubing ruptures when exposed to high temperatures and emits suppressant through a hole directly onto the fire source. This system can be customized for different applications such as for small areas like commercial kitchens, machinery rooms, or for equipment.
  • Indirect Release System- In this system, the tube acts as a fire detection system and a trigger for the fire suppressant. Like the direct system, the tubing ruptures when exposed to high temperature, but in this case, it triggers the tubing system to drop in pressure and send a signal back to the fire suppression system. The fire suppression system then emits the suppressing agent to extinguish the fire. This system is good for both small and large areas.

Where Should Firetrace Systems Be Used?

Firetrace systems are specially designed for small enclosures and areas at higher risk of a fire. These should be used in places like data centers, server rooms, electrical cabinets, machinery, commercial kitchens, and other small areas. These systems are beneficial for targeting confined areas and for buildings that may need extra protection due to machinery, technology, or other special applications.
